Rock Climbing Based Experiential Therapy
A therapist led experiential program that uses rock climbing to work through fear, control, trust, and emotional regulation in real time.
In partnership with Levitation Climbing
We use rock climbing as a real-time environment to help clients work through the same patterns that show up in recovery: avoidance, control, fear, shame, and difficulty with emotional regulation.
Instead of just talking about these challenges, clients experience them directly and learn how to move through them with support.
What a Typical Group Looks Like
Pre-brief
We set intentions and identify clinical themes such as avoidance, control, trust, shame, and emotional regulation. Clients are oriented to both the climbing experience and its therapeutic purpose.
Climbing / Experiential Component
Clients engage in climbing through graded exposure. All routes and challenges are adapted to individual abilityno prior experience needed.
In-the-Moment Clinical Work
We actively track what emerges and address it in real time
Processing + Integration
We use structured discussion and experiential exercises (psychodrama, sociometry) to help clients process the experience and identify clear takeaways.
This program helps clients:
Engage more fully in treatment
Work through fear, control, and trust issues as they happen
Build emotional regulation through direct experience
Increase group cohesion and connection
Strengthen relapse prevention skills
Experience meaningful, sober recreation
Expand identity beyond substance use
